>>> Sweeties, does your homie have the right attitude  and are you wondering what type of husband can best serve the Marauders in their quest for Senior Slow Pitch Conquest? Is it through the honourable profession of softball free agent or mercenary?

Check it, homies!
How do you recognize a MSPC team comrade? Learn the secret sign that's sweeping the nation. No, really! The secret sign has a double meaning, not just ..."two out"!

>>> Warning

You will note that throughout our MSPC dossier, our staff have painstakingly collected our organization's articles on slow pitch; presenting them to you with the hopes that you will be entertained by our satire on slow pitch. If you, like most maple syrup guzzling Canajuns are swayed by the rationality and logic of our  upcoming tyranny in softball. As you read the history & literature of MSPC, we recommend the consumption of spiked maple syrup products, or other wholesome fare. There is a lot of material to read, and we would feel terrible if we knew any of you darlings forgot to feed the sled dogs or faced starvation -- unable to tear yourself away from the power and the glory that is: MSPC. Be forewarned, sweeties!

The MSPC would like to remind all citizens who are thinking of attempting our clever plan of slow pitch empire building to sign up at their local softball association for their free shovel (for use of jargons when editing) and a free manure truck for use of yokel attraction). As usual, all slow pitch oriented activity is subsidized by our fair sponsors, so get out there and get supporting!

On getting ready. One of the key's to getting ready is concentration. What is it exactly? Concentration has often been defined as "taking possession by the mind, in clear and vivid form, of one out of several simultaneous possible trains of thought." Not by me of course.

It implies and trust me, requires withdrawal from some things in order to deal effectively with others - especially batting and fielding. How many times have we heard a player yell out at a fielder just at THE MOMENT of making a catch or yelling out a negative during batting like "your due"? To often I bet! Yet concentration lets you overcome these negative distractions.

It's paradoxical that our performance on virtually all tasks depends so much on our ability to concentrate - to focus on the right thing at the right time and at the same time stay positive for positive results - yet the very act of concentration is often volatile and very fragile. Sometimes it takes only the slightest distraction to bring performance down from the exceptional to the sub-standard.

When you're in the batter's box, there can be a number of distractions around you:

-- Your team-mates shouting encouragement.
-- The opposition shouting, etc.
-- The catcher trying to "wind you up".
-- The pitcher.
-- The man walking his dog through the outfield.
-- The girls with the...
-- Negative thoughts about your own abilities.
-- Tactical decisions, such as where you want to hit the ball.

The ideal scenario would be for you to block out all of those distractions and focus on the right thing at the right time: Like the ball as it leaves the pitcher's hand...watch it...head down...focus...bam!

I like to have a couple of beer before a game. It helps me relax and helps me visualize swinging the bat and seeing the pitch being made. Visualize the ball coming middle / middle and seeing the bat making contact then seeing the ball blow by the 3rd baseman, right up the 5.5 hole. It works...for me! Now not everyone needs a beer or two but the point I'm trying to make is you need to relax & focus. --
Try it!
